VSQ Returns to Rosehill Cemetery

  • May Chapel at Rosehill Cemetery 5800 North Ravenswood Avenue Chicago, IL, 60660 United States (map)

Varo String Quartet presents our second multi-genre concert at the Horatio N May Chapel in Rosehill Cemetery. Blending sounds ranging from the traditional to the terrifying, VSQ will present works by Luis Fernando Amaya, Jonathan Hannau, Joseph Haydn, and Gyorgy Ligeti in a smorgasbord of spooky sounds. Contemporary works by Amaya and Hannau, a string quartet in C major by Haydn with perhaps more hidden depths, and the challenging and thoroughly creepy String Quartet No. 1 “Métamorphoses nocturnes” by Gyorgy Ligeti combine for an evening of Halloween-themed classical music that will surprise, scare, and delight.

Program:

String Quartet, Opus 20, No. 2 – Joseph Haydn

Dialecto de Árbol no. 4 – Luis Fernando Amaya

5 Miniatures for String Quartet** – Jonathan Hannau

String Quartet No. 1 “Métamorphoses nocturnes” – Gyorgy Ligeti

** denotes world premiere
